Godzilla Review (SPOILERS)- 8.5/10

Going into this movie I had slight worries. I was still pretty traumatized from the 1998 version that was so awful. I thought the task of portraying Godzilla in present day cinema might be a challenge and that I was ultimately going to walk out of the theater slightly disappointed.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

This movie was awesome! The main characters of the film were great. Bryan Cranston was good as always. Elizabeth Olsen to me has become a solid actor that I think will be more and more sought after in hollywood. Aaron Taylor-Johnson I have always liked since kick ass and this was no different. Ken Wantanabe was fantastic. I loved the whole cast.

Godzilla looked incredible too. I really liked how they paid tribute to the old Godzilla and added in some new style to his look. A lot of complaints though on him "being to fat" which I can see why it would bother some people but it didn't really bug me at all. I just figured that's what a creature would look like if he'd been eating radiation on the ocean floor for thousands of years.

Another thing I noticed, and this is just my impression, is that Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Godzilla seemed to have been kindred spirits in a way. And the saying "takes a beating and keeps on ticking" that's used a couple of times in the movie was describing them. They were unknowingly teaming up and and even saved each others lives a few times.

My complaints consist mostly of things I didn't get enough of. Bryan Crantson's role was everything you saw in the trailer plus another 20 minutes maybe. I was disappointed because I was just getting attached to his character and then poof he gets killed.

Another thing I found myself needing more of was Godzilla. He's portrayed as a guardian that is awakened by the mutos and spends the movie hunting them down and fighting them. The fight scenes are so intense and shot so well that I found myself wishing the human scenes would hurry up and get over so I could see a Godzilla part. Another thing is human are literally helpless against these creatures. Godzilla is so enormous that him just getting out of the water caused a tsunami and killed people. You have to realize when these things fight that are this friggin big then there will probably be a lot of casualties.

I thought the roar was very well done. A more intense version of the original. I also liked how they didn't really use it that much, maybe like 3 times. Every time he roared you could just feel the power behind it and gives you a great sense of how awesome this creature is. Another thing I thought was fantastic was the fire breath. They didn't use it too much and I think my favorite scene in all of the movies I've seen this year was when he rips open the mutos mouth, looks down into it and just blasts fire right down his throat. I was in my seat thinking "that....was.....incredible." I left the theater very satisfied and I might see it again before I see X-men: Days Of Future Past next week.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 Review (SPOILERS)- 7.5/10

The Amazing Spider-man 2 is a solid installment to the SPU (Spidey Cinematic Universe) that Sony is creating. Though at times this film does feel rushed, it still manages to keep you entertained and just have fun with "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man" and all the great things about being this character.

At the start of the movie you see Spidey loving life. Peter is graduating, Gwen and him are very much in love and Spider-man is famous and very well respected and looked up to as a hero. Now relationships, I would say, are the main theme of this movie. Peter and Harry, Harry and Norman, Harry and his father and also I think Electro's relationship with the rest of the world. The main relationship from beginning to the very end being Peter and Gwen.

Constantly seeing Gwen's father as a reminder of his broken promise is breaking down Peter, which results in him breaking up with her again. This is where his life starts to fall and Harry Osbourne (Dane DeHaan) and Electo come into play. Electro having already made an appearance to both Peter and Gwen as a sad, lonely and internally angry man named Max Dillon, who eventually falls in a pit of radioactive eels. Once turned into Electro, the inner anger that Max Dillon has been repressing comes to the surface. Now, Max Dillon idolized Spider-man having once been saved by him and becomes a villain only after coming to the conclusion that Spider-man doesn't care about him or anyone else at all and he has the power to do kill him and change the world into what he sees fit.

Harry Osbourne has a much different story, sent off to boarding school when he was about 11 by Norman, his father and him haven't had even a wink of a relationship. Coming back as his father is dying, Harry learns that he also has the same disease as his father and will eventually die. All he has is a list of things Norman did to stay alive as long as he did. Harry inherits Oscorp and just like the last Green Goblin, he is over thrown by the other Oscorp executives. After finding out he needs Spider-man's blood to self-heal, he turns to the web slinger and is immediately turned down because of Spider-man's fear that he could die or become something worse. This starts his hatred toward Spider-man but finds out that there are viles of the radioactive spider venom at Oscorp. This forces Harry to make a deal with Electro to break into Oscorp, steal the spider venom and inject it into himself. Successfully injected Harry Osbourne is not turned into anything like Spider-man but the Green Goblin. This turns into a fight between him and Spider-man that leads to the death of Gwen Stacey.

I found the villains in the film to be very rushed. While the pace of there appearances was very well done, I still thought the villains themselves were either unnecessary or rushed and frankly took away from the film. The Green Goblin was extremely rushed. Though I appreciated the risk they took not giving him a mask and just going for a more sinister looking Harry Osbourne, but this is supposed to be the Joker to Batman in Spiderman's world and the character was extremely under-developed with a corny laugh. Rhino was very unneeded and cartoony. There is a scene at the end of a fight between Spider-man and Rhino that I thought could have been done better or at least been an after credit scene. Electro I actually liked but I didn't quite understand why they made the song during the first fight scene with Spider-man also be Electro's inner thought monologue, also I had a problem with Max Dillon. His appearance and personality was also very cartoonish and not something I would have went for.

All of that said I do have a lot of positives about the film that made it a good film. I thought Peter and Gwen's relationship looked very sincere and genuine and I really enjoyed watching them go back and forth together. The death scene for Gwen was very intense. The fact that the very thing that Peter promised not to do got her killed does sink in at that moment.  Being so close to saving her as she is falling down a clock tower, his web does catch her but not enough to stop her from hitting off the bottom floor. I thought that scene really showed Andrew Garfield's acting ability and I saw a few people tearing up. Jamie Foxx's Electro I thought was fantastic. Jamie did a great job still making you feel bad even though he is the villain with his constant need to feel needed. The Spider-man fight scenes were awesome. One of the things I love about Spider-man is the way he moves and gets around. This movie does a good job making him entertaining while hes maneuvering around the city and fighting off the bad guys.

Overall like I said its a very solid film. Go see it if you can. I loved it but I did have problems with it. But I would definitely see it again.

I'm Sorry I Haven't Been Posting Lately!

I apologize I haven't posted lately for those of you who actually enjoy my blog posts. I have been working a lot plus also working on getting a mini studio set up so I can do video blogging of all movie related material. I hope everyone that reads my blog will come check it out and support me! I still will be doing blog posts every once in a while like reviews but there will be a link in that same post to a video review also. So which ever you prefer you can look at.

Terminator Genesis Began Filming Yesterday

I am pretty excited about this news because unlike some people I heard that didn't like Terminator Salvation, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I love this new look at the terminators and Skynet and all that added with talented actors and you make great entertainment.

Terminator Genesis is the first in a new trilogy and as far as the plot is concerned Paramount Pictures and keeping a lid on it. But here is what I do know.

Some of the cast are:

                                           Arnold Schwarzenegger- Terminator

He's back! You kind of got a glimpse of his face on a terminator in Salvation but this time he is an actual part of this movie. Its going to be great seeing our old terminator back in action.
   
                                             Emilia Clarke- Sarah Connor

  

Daenerys Targaryen (Khaleesi) from Game Of Thrones will be taking on the role of Sarah Connor. Not really sure how she'll do in a role like this since it is her first big production film. We shall see.

                                              Jai Courtney- Kyle Reese 

I thought he was great in Jack Reacher and A Good Day To Die Hard. He definitely looks like an actor who would be in a terminator film. His tough guy, military like style. It works so for me I'm down.

                                                    Byung-hun Lee

It hasn't been said yet what his character is but I am still really glad he is in the movie. As much as I HATED the first G.I. Joe and wasn't really blown away by the second one either. The one character that made it watchable was Storm Shadow. I really enjoy the energy he brings on screen and I think hes going to be a good fit in a film like this.

From Lawless to Zero Dark Thirty to Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, this actor is building one impressive resume. I thought he was really good in Lawless and Zero Dark Thirty and I'm not worried about him in Planet Of The Apes either. Very talented actor so I think he is also a good fit.

Alan Taylor directed Thor: The Dark World and I think like 6 episodes of Game Of Thrones. I'm excited to see what him and the writers got cooking up to start this new Terminator trilogy.

Captain America:The Winter Soldier Review (NO SPOILERS)- 9.5/10

I had the privilege of seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier twice yesterday. I saw it once in 3D and once in 2D and let me tell you it doesn't really matter because BOTH ARE AMAZING BECAUSE THIS MOVIE IS INCREDIBLE.

Wanna know how much I loved this movie? I said Avengers was my favorite movie of all time. This is better than Avengers. I can't believe I'm saying this but its true.

The movie starts out with CA working with SHIELD after the events in New York, they are on a misson to stop pirates that took over on of SHIELD's ships. During this mission is when CA is first introduced to the shadiness of SHIELD. The entire theme of the film is trust. CA has to learn who to trust as SHIELD is compromised by a secret enemy that has reared its ugly head out again, stronger than ever.

Out of the hell that's opening up comes it's first demon. The Winter Soldier. A mindless, pure fighting specimen with a metallic left arm, which makes him 10 times more deadly. The Winter Soldier cares only for the missions he's assigned which causes a lot of problems for the Cap. This film has the most realistic fighting I've ever seen in a Marvel film. Every punch hit hard and every kick looked like it hurt like hell. Such intense scenes.

All the new faces were great in this movie. Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Robert Redford and Frank Grillo all did fantastic. I love the chemistry Falcon and CA have, I can't wait to see them in Captain America 3.

If you go see this movie I recommend seeing it in 3D but 2D its a little easier to see the fight scenes. 3D does help the show the audience better detailed action sequences and explosions though in my opinion. All in all really doesn't matter because either way you will not be disappointed. Favorite movie this year by far.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles And New Jupiter Ascending Trailer!

This trailer looks awesome! BUT I can tell Megan Fox's acting is going to be terrible in it. I've never been impressed with her as an actor anyways so this is nothing new. The turtles look awesome! Looks like they kept the classic silly banter between the them so that's going to be refreshing to see that with today's film standards. Absolutely can't wait for this movie.

When I saw the first trailer I didn't really have much of an impression of this movie. After this trailer I am very impressed. Channing Tatum looks like weird but his fight scenes look really cool. This movie looks action packed. Eddie Redmayne plays the perfect villain. Will definitely be seeing this film.

Second Trailer For X-men: Days Of Future Past

This trailer looks incredible! This is one of those movies where the first trailer looks really good but you don't really know if its going to be good or not, but then the second trailer comes out and you know for damn sure its going to be amazing.

The sentinels don't look at all like I thought they were going to. They still look amazing but they remind me a lot of the Destroyer in Thor. I guess if you want robots to destroy all mutants you can't just have any regular old tin cans.

This clip in the trailer has me thinking that this is going to be the last we see of Storm. Who knows they may just start killing off a lot of the older X-men to pave way for the First Class cast to take over. This is a time travel movie though and whatever they do in the past could bring Storm back at the end of the movie anyways. Never know! Beautifully done trailer, action packed, brilliant, can not wait to see this film.
