Guardians Of The Galaxy

This movie will be coming out August 1st of this year but I feel like no one really knows anything at all about them. So I'm just going to give you a quick run down of who the characters and origins of the group.

Star-Lord/ Peter Quill- A half alien, half human who became a interplanetary policeman who became Star-Lord while working for NASA after an alien being approached him and his colleagues offering the position. Peter's mother was killed by an alien so he spent most of his time as Star-Lord hoping to find the murderous creature. While searching Peter found his real father, Emperor Jason, who informs him that he crash landed to earth and fell in love with his mother. Having to leave earth, Jason erased Peter's mother's memory of him and placed alternate memories.

Star-Lord has a suit that gives him super strength and agility. As well as the ability to travel through space. Star-Lord also has a special gun called the "Element Gun" which is capable of projecting one of the four elements (air, earth, fire and water). Star-Lord also possesses a ship that he simply calls "ship." Which is always at his beckoning call when he needs it.

Star-Lord is being played by Chris Pratt. A choice that wouldn't be my first but I'm certainly not going to cause a riot about it. I think he is a respectable, dedicated actor and I think he will do a great job.

Drax The Destroyer- Formally known as Arthur Douglas. He was a human whose family was attacked by the supervillain Thanos. (separate post on Thanos coming up.) Kronus, who is actually Thanos's father needed a champion to defeat Thanos so he took Arthur Douglas's spirit and put it in a new, enchanced and powerful body and from then on became Drax the Destroyer. Drax's powers include flight, super strength, and energy blasts projected from his hands. Drax the Destroyer is the perfect addition to the Guardians.

He is being played by Dave Bautista. Not sure how this will be but I've learned to just trust Marvel and wait it out. Still very excited to see this character.

Gamora- The deadliest woman in the galaxy. Gamora is the adopted daughter of Thanos. Sole survivor of an alien race called the Zen Whoberis, who's people was slaughtered by another alien race called Grand Inquisitors. The titan Thanos rescued Gamora and raised her as his own, enhancing her abilities, training her and molding her into a deadly weapon. As a master martial artist and skilled in advanced weaponry she quickly got the nickname "Deadliest Woman In The Galaxy." When Gamora found out Thanos's plan to destroy the universe she tried to kill him and failed miserably.

Gamora is being played by Zoe Saldana, which a lot of people are upset about but I personally am very happy with the choice. Everything I have seen her in I have been happy with her performance no matter how much I disliked the movie itself. Looking forward to seeing this character brought to life on the big screen.

Groot- A tree like monster from "Planet X." Groot can be completely destroyed and reform from a simple splinter. He also has the ability to control trees and and create tree armies on command. Groot is going to be a very power part of the team.

Groot is being played by Vin Diesel and is one of the only two all CGI characters in the film.

Rocket Racoon- Saved my favorite for last. This genetically enhanced raccoon has a loud mouth and an attitude to go with it. RR already has an advantage over most humans, having been a raccoon, with a remarkable sense of smell, sight and hearing that he uses to his advantage against his enemies. Rocket Raccoon also can perform perfectly in the dark and identify things before touching them with his hypersensitive paws.

Rocket Raccoon is well trained in the use of high powered weapons from all over the galaxy. His favorite is two laser pistols. RR also has rocket powered boots to travel with. Also an expert in various fighting styles RR has proven to be highly useful in the battlefield.

Rocket Raccoon is going to be voiced by Bradley Cooper and is also completely CGI. This character is the one I'm most excited to see brought to life.

Marvel really needs to get the word out on this amazing group of hero's. I know they won't introduce them at the half-time commercials during the superbowl, but they seriously need to because as far as the general public is concerned NOONE knows who these characters are. Oh well. Fingers crossed for this movie.

What do you think of the movie? Think it'll do the comics justice? Or do you think it will fail miserably due to lack of promotion? Let me know!

Top 10 Super Hero Movies That Need To Be Made!

These are in no particular order but I these are my top 10 that I think deserve a shot with a good director and writers to be put on the big screen.

1.  Incredibles 2- uh yeah! I loved the first one and I was hoping they would keep them going but nooooooo. Instead we get Despicable Me 2. I don't find those movies funny at all other than the minion scenes. The incredibles had everything you loved about super hero's and everything you loved about pixar films. WE NEED MORE!

2. Black Panther- we don't have any black super hero's in the movies! Only one I can think of is Hancock. And that almost doesn't count. There is some talk about Black Panther joining the marvel universe and join the avengers for Avengers 3 and I'm glad about that but we'll see how that plays out. Can't wait to see how Marvel portrays him. I love everything they do because its always movie gold.

3. Ghost Rider- I'm sorry but can we please have a new Ghost Rider. The first one was ok but the second one was just awful. I don't get it. All the elements are there for a bad ass awesome movie. Its a guy with a flaming skull who rides a harley and whips a thick chain around for pete's sake! I wasn't gonna do remakes on this post but this is something I feel needs to be said. I want a fast pace Ghost Rider please and bad ass shit! Not horribly choreographed action sequences and cheesy one liners like "road kill." Please and thank you.

4. Dragonball Z- I will not sit here and accept that shitty dragonball movie as the only one thats ever going to come out. These guys definitely fall under the super hero category. I think with the right director and writers we could have another extremely successful film franchise. The intensity and story line of the show would be incredible brought to big screen. With a little guidance, patience, and nurturing (and big budget CGI action sequences) a lot of new Dragonball Z fans could be coming out of the theaters.

5. Gambit- I know we got to see a him a little bit in Xmen Origins: Wolverine but I this character deserves his own stand alone film and I think a lot of people would be very excited to see that movie. Gambit's ability to explosively charge anything he touches with kinetic energy, plus his martial arts fighting techniques would be more than entertaining. Origins was just a tease to all of Gambit's fans and if a stand alone movie were to occur I am certain theater seats would fill up rather quickly.

6. Danny Phantom- I know you might think its silly but I think a more serious version of this tv series has the potential to be really awesome. But it also has a lot of potential to bomb horribly.... with that said I truly believe that in the right hands any good movies can be made from anything. I would just love to see a darker, grittier and powerful version of this character's life brought to the big screen.

7. Captain Underpants- I read all these books as a kid and loved them. This comedic super hero movie would be great for all of us old farts who were fans when we were young. If I was going to make it, I think it would be a little more adult but not treading the "scary movie series line." I'd like it to have an actual story but still be really really funny. I think it'd be a fresh new look on all the super hero buzz lately.

8. Beast Boy- I love Beast Boy! Nothing like him has ever been brought to the big screen. Beast Boy has a great origin story and has the power to turn into any animal at his will. Beast Boy can also turn into extinct animals like dinosaurs. A Beast Boy film, as long as its not too "kiddish" would be a great time at the movies for sure.

9. Darkwing Duck- Why not Disney?! This movie would be great for a lot of reasons. Resurrect the character for the young audiences and give us older people something to take our kids too while going down a trip on memory lane. Almost everyone I've talked to LOVES Darkwing Duck. This would be a great film all around, not only as a super hero film.

10. Deadpool- why hasn't this been a movie yet? All we've gotten is Ryan Reynolds in Xmen Origins: Wolverine. Come on! This wise-cracking, fast shooting, sword fighting, red and black suited awesomeness more than deserves his own movie. He doesn't have to be part of any of the other marvel character's universes but can we get this guy a film please. Deadpool is one of the fan favorites and would make A LOT of change in the box office. We gotta see that!

That's my top ten for movies super hero movies I'd love to see come to the big screen, but whats yours? Leave me a comment below and maybe you guys have some good ones that'll change my top ten around!

12 Years A Slave! (SPOILERS)

Holy crap what an intense movie. First of all I'd like to say the difference in intensity the background music can display. I never realized before how much you really need it and sometimes don't need it. I'll tell you why in a different post because in this one I only want to talk about this movie.
The movie starts off with a very successful free black man named Solomon Northup. The north are all free of slavery but it is completely legal and fine in the south. Solomon was one of many free African Americans who were kidnapped and taken back to the south to be slaves. Legal papers all destroyed and beaten until they learn to be obedient and submissive again.

The reason why I brought up the point about the background music is because there are a lot of intense scenes that have absolutely no music what so ever. All you get is incredible acting of Chiwetel Ejiofor and his facial expressions. If he doesn't win an oscar for this award I will be shocked. If noone in this movie wins an oscar I will keel over. I'm making a prediction right now that atleast 2 oscars will go towards this movie. I HAVE SPOKEN!

So lets talk about the talent in this movie other then Chiwetel...

Benedict Cumberbatch
Easily the nicest white person in this movie. (considering this movie consists of mostly slave owners) He is Solomons first owner, Ford. It was nice seeing him in a role like this. I like actors that dabble in a bit of everything. Ben is proving to be one of the best up and coming actors right now.

Paul Dano

In my opinion Paul is really underrated as an actor. Everything I've seen him in I've been impressed and I don't think he gets as much recognition as he should. He played Ford's evil farm worker who ran the slaves along with another white worker. He played the role perfectly.

Michael Fassbender
Along with Chiwetel, Michael does by far the best acting in the movie. He almost stole the movie. He plays Edwin Epps, Horribly evil plantation owner who terrorizes and rapes the slaves and his wife who is also just as evil played by Sarah Paulson. I have always loved Michael Fassbender's work and this movie is another good reason why.

Lupita Nyong'o
I think Lupita deserves some recognition as well. Lupita played Patsey. A young slave girl who has become Edwin's obsession. Always does the best work on the plantation but is raped almost every night and beaten visiously if she leaves. Tension is also caused between her and Mistress Epps. Lupita brought so much intensity and feeling to her role and I would love to see her again in more films.

Oh yeah and Brad Pitt was in it too for almost no reason at all.

Well to sum up the reasons for my rating. Great actors, great scenes, absolutely no complaints.

                               10/10

What do you guys think?  Any actors stand out to you at all? Didn't really like the movie? Let me know in the comments!

Finally watched the original Star Wars trilogy for the first time....

I know I should have watched them a looooong time ago. All I kept hearing was how much better it was than the prequels. I have watched the prequels. They are actually all I've known. So basically this post is on my impression of the films and how I feel they connect and/or match up with the newer prequels.

Sorry for those who disagree but the prequels were so much worse!

I found it very strange that I enjoyed a trilogy made from 1977 to 1983 better than a some what recently made trilogy but I definitely did. The old ones were so much more entertaining! I think what wins me over is the difference in pace and the setting transitions between the two trilogies. The prequels have a very set pace and mood. Always somewhat moody, deep music no matter what the energy of the scene gives off which came off to me as very droll and dull. I found myself listening to everything going on and retaining the information but completely lacking the entertainment value.

Now with that said, I grew up with these movies so I went into the original star wars trilogy thinking that it was one of those "before my time" type movies. I was insanely impressed. So much fun to watch, the story telling in my opinion was a lot better than the prequels. Do I hate the prequels? No. Do I think that they are complete garbage? No. But when you hear all the super star wars fanatics say that the old ones are SO much better.......they are right. I do like the story of how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader but to me the most exciting part of the trilogy is the very end when he actually becomes Vader. Annnnnnd end credits. I don't know I think a lot of star wars fans could find the words and help me describe why I didn't like it as much as the older star wars trilogy. But if you haven't seen either I highly recommend you do and form your own opinion on it.

Anything to add? Disagree? Or just plain want to agree with me? Leave a comment!
